Top 10 Reasons to Buy Bugs at Bugs In Cyberspace (under construction)

10. I pay taxes on every penny that comes through this website. In this economy and with the knowledge that our children and their children will still be paying for the lessons America is learning today, every effort we make counts. By buying bugs here, you can rest assured that you are making a contribution to, well, freedom. Plain and simple...because our freedom and the eventual freedom of the entire planet is at stake here. The cumulative effect of small acts adds up to so much in the end. So many hobbyists run money through their paypal accounts and don't pay taxes on their profits. It feels good to do the right thing.

9. I'm not completely green to the extent that I've researched my research, but I make an effort. I rarely spend a nickel on gas to go to the post office, but use instead the Postal Service's carrier pick-up. They're out driving a route anyway, and by being on their pick-up route and not starting up my car, I'm reducing emissions. I also print my labels at home using the limited ink setting on the postal service website. You will see a variety of recycled paper and plastic that I proudly use as packing materials for packing your orders. No, that's not trash until it ends up in a landfill! I also re-use shipping cartons when possible.

8. I'm proud to have a very low DOA (dead on arrival) rate. There are numerous factors that contribute to DOA's, but most of them are preventable. My suppliers and I take great care to select only the healthiest animals for shipping. We are careful to monitor the weather conditions around the country, while providing S&H costs at a very reasonable price. We guarantee live arrival on everything we ship, though we do ask that you pay for re-shipping in some cases when fault is clearly due to factors beyond our control. I run this business as a hobby, so the money is a secondary factor. Customer service is #1, because without people to share the hobby with, it isn't nearly as fun for us!

7. I love bugs and so do my suppliers. I've been in the online hobby for over a decade. There isn't one link or product that is sold through this website that isn't guaranteed 100% dependable. You can be sure that this website will be up until the day I die, because there is nothing I love more than nature, and bugs are the ultimate achievement in its expression of diversity (so many more bugs than all other animals and plants combined!).

6. I am committed to providing you with the necessary level of care information for you bugs. I will often recommend one of our care manuals because I get so much email I don't have time to write a book of information in each response, however I do spend at LEAST two hours on emails, each day. My wife would say it's more, but we sleep opposite shifts so nobody's counting.

5. I am committed to growing this website. While I don't upload photos as often as I used to (I still take them), return visitors will usually find something new to look at. With all the bugs in changing inventory, I hope that visitors will appreciate the general maintenance required in keeping all listings current. 99% of everything that is listed as available on this website IS currently available. (That other 1% might occur on my busy shipping days where I'm too busy packing orders between work and the kids getting home from school that I don't make an update for a day or two. Other factors include unexpected deaths in inventory, etc.)

4. I'm committed to making the site more user friendly as years go on. I'm not sure page long explanations like this one are user-friendly, but I can promise you that I love communicating my intentions to you!

3. Where else can you buy some of this stuff? The answer, of course, is nowhere! And thus, there are innumerable product combinations that are not available elsewhere.

2. This might be hard to believe, but I rarely spend a dime out of my bug business account on my personal expenses. Nearly all the money that comes in goes right back out into the hobby. A large portion of it goes to my suppliers in the form of commissions. It feels great to know that I help them support their families through my business, doing what they love to do (please note that they have day jobs in addition to their hobby, as well). I also host/sponsor the following community forum websites: Mantidforum.Net , Roachforum.com , and Beetleforum.Net (newish). Various expenses are associated with each of these websites, not to mention a huge amount of invested time. I have other projects and sites that I've begun and failed with, but this small stream of money allows me a freedom to creatively follow my instincts. One example of a failed site was a bug auction website at Bidabug.org that I started to help raise money for the American Tarantula Society. The site is still up, but it isn't active. Few people every really participated, but I still had a lot of fun networking and ultimately failing (learning). Mostly, the money that comes through this site allows me to buy more bugs and supplies and enjoy new stuff that I've personally never seen before and can then offer to you! The truth is, I don't make nearly enough money through this site to quit my day job (which is actually, unfortunately at night)...or else I would in a heartbeat!

1. Bugs is who I am and you're here because you're curious about them too! They truly do make fascinating pets and I will eventually write an entire book about why and hopefully sell three or four copies!
