Antheraea polyphemus

This is the most common US Saturniid moth, and is found throughout much of  the North America.  Wings can measure 10 to 13 cm in width.  Males have much thicker, more feathery antennae than females.  The large eyespots can be startling when they are suddenly revealed.  The moth also vibrates its wings to intensify the STARE!
