Neohirasea maerens (PSG 173)

A very beautiful species from Vietnam.  They are very spiny!  These hatchlings are the shortest that I have seen in any Phasmid species.  They grow quickly though, but will never be very long.  They have the ability to release an odor if disturbed.  It smells sort of minty, like fluoride.  They are very quick, and will run right off the edge of your hand if you are not careful.

Foodplants:  bramble, ivy
