Phyllium
hausleithneri
This rare species of Phyllium from Malaysia has finally been keyed by Dr.
Francis Seow-Choen as the rare Phyllium hausleithneri.
The ova look very similar to P. siccifolium, as does the adult, yet both have
noticeable differences.
Foodplants:
Wax Myrtle (Myrica californica), bramble, Guava?
(newly
matured)

(20 months old!!!...next 6 pictures)

Late instar Nymph (note the unusual lobing of the abdomen, not
seen in other cultured Phyllium)

(newly hatched nymph)
(the ova are different than P.
siccifolium, and have a purple color in sunlight)
Here's a pic. of Phyllium siccifolium (left) and P.
hausleithneri (right) ova together. The sicc. has 2 rows of pits, while
the haus. has a raised plateau-like middle area. Both are bordered by
bristles.
