Phyllium hausleithneri

    This rare species of Phyllium from Malaysia has finally been keyed by Dr. Francis Seow-Choen as the rare Phyllium hausleithneri.  The ova look very similar to P. siccifolium, as does the adult, yet both have noticeable differences.

Foodplants: Wax Myrtle (Myrica californica), bramble, Guava?

(the ova are different than P. siccifolium, and have a purple color in sunlight)

Here's a pic. of Phyllium siccifolium (left) and P. hausleithneri (right) ova together.  The sicc. has 2 rows of pits, while the haus. has a raised plateau-like middle area.  Both are bordered by bristles.
